Mark Northuis Named MIAA Women's Cross Country Coach of the Year

Hope College's Mark Northuis '82 has been selected as the MIAA Women's Cross Country Coach of the Year.

Northuis received the distinguished honor in a vote of fellow coaches that was based on the achievements of their colleagues during regular- and post-season competitions.

Northuis led the Flying Dutch to a share of the MIAA title and three top-six finishes individually, including 2023 MIAA Most Valuable Runner Rebecca Markham.

This season's co-championship was Hope's eighth league title in a row, which is a program-best for the Flying Dutch.

Under the leadership of Northuis, the Hope women's team is currently ranked 17th in the nation.

Northuis is in his 35th year at the helm of the cross country program.  The Flying Dutch finished third or higher in the conference standings every year during his tenure.
