Sara Schermerhorn Named MIAA Women's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week

Hope College sprinter Sara Schermerhorn has been selected as the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Women's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week.

The sophomore from Traverse City, Michigan (Traverse City West HS) is receiving the honor for the first time this season and the third time in her career.

Schermerhorn clocked a Hope-record time in the 200-meter run of 25.26 seconds on Grand Valley State University's oversized track on Friday at the GVSU Holiday Open.

It was the first meet of the season for Schermerhorn and the Flying Dutch.

The time is ranked third in all of NCAA Division III.

Schermerhorn also raced on the Flying Dutch's 4x400 relay which recorded a run of 4:05.94 at GVSU.

Hope's relay time ranks 16th in the nation.
