Women's Distance Medley Relay Breaks School Record

The Flying Dutch clocked the second-fastest time in the nation.

The Hope College women's indoor track and field team delivered a record-setting performance in the distance medley relay on Saturday at Grand Valley State University.

Senior Ellie Jankowski (Granger, Indiana / Penn HS), senior Grace Behrens (Mishawaka, Indiana / Trinity School at Greenlawn), freshman Madison Stern (Saline, Michigan / Saline), and senior Ana Tucker (Midland, Michigan / H.H. Dow) clocked a time of 11 minutes, 54.59 seconds.

The DMR surpassed the 2021 Hope mark of 11:58.53 set by Jacinda Cole, Behrens, Hannah Kenny and Tucker.

The Flying Dutch recorded the second-fastest DMR in NCAA Division III this season, trailing only the February 3 relay of 11:33.50 set by Washington University in St. Louis.

Hope's DMR placed seventh out of 18 teams and trailed only six NCAA Division II relays.

Jankowski also posted a career-best, 1-mile run of 5:12.32.

It is the second-fastest mile at Hope this season behind Tucker and the third-fastest among MIAA runners.

Sophomore Maddy Struck (Hainesville, Illinois / Grayslake Central) ran a career-best, 5,000-meter race of 18:05.77. The performance ranks third among Hope entrants and sixth in the MIAA.

Hope's next meet is on Friday, Feb. 17, at 3 p.m. at the GVSU Tune-Up.

It is the final meet before the MIAA Championships hosted by Trine University on Saturday, Feb. 25.
