ACHA Hockey Shuts Out Air Force, Moves One Win from National Semifinals

The top-ranked and top-seeded Hope College ice hockey team is one win away from returning to the national semifinals.

The Flying Dutchmen shut out the Air Force Academy, 6-0, on Friday during the second round of pool play at the ACHA Division III National Championships at New England Sports in Marlborough, Massachusetts, near Boston.

Hope (31-1) concludes pool play on Saturday, March 18, at 8 p.m. against eighth-seeded University of Missouri.

Both Hope and Missouri are undefeated in pool play. The winner advances to next week's semifinals

Against Air Force, sophomore goalie Maclane Schick (Kohler, Wisconsin / Kohler HS) posted a 27-save shutout.

For the second consecutive game, the Flying Dutchmen received all of their goals from different skaters.

Senior left wing Colin Stecco (East Grand Rapids, Michigan / East Grand Rapids), junior right wing Jake Adams (East Grand Rapids, Michigan / East Grand Rapids), junior defenseman Luke McKinch (Plymouth, Michigan / Plymouth Comprehensive) and sophomore defenseman Nolan Holtrop (Walker, Michigan / Kenowa Hills) each registered a goal and an assist.

Freshman defenseman Austin Ieuter (Midland, Michigan / H.H. Dow) and freshman forward Hunter Maschke (Portage, Michigan / Portage Central) also scored for Hope.

The Flying Dutchmen are seeking their third consecutive ACHA national championship.
