Women's Track/Field Debuts at Eighth in First USTFCCCA National Rating Index

The Flying Dutch are the highest-ranked MIAA women's team

The Hope College women's outdoor track and field team is ranked eighth in the first NCAA Division III National Rating Index from the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

The Flying Dutch totaled 109.60 points in the national rating.

Hope also topped the Great Lakes Region rating with 1,055.98 points.

The Flying Dutch are ranked in the Top 35 nationally in 10 events.

Senior Ana Tucker (Midland, Michigan / H.H. Dow) sits No. 1 in the 10,000 meters with a run of 34 minutes and 24.97 seconds.

Freshman sprinter Sara Schermerhorn (Traverse City, Michigan / T.C. West) clocked the third-fastest 200-meter time at 24.88 seconds and the ninth-fastest run in the 100 meters at 12.17 seconds.

Sophomore Greta Robrahn (Zeeland, Michigan / Zeeland East) is sixth in the shot put with a toss of 12.53 meters (41 feet, 1 ½ inches).

Hope's 4x400 relay is ranked third. Senior Julie Timperman (Lafayette, Indiana / Faith Christian), Sara Schermerhorn, senior Samantha Schermerhorn (Traverse City, Michigan / T.C. West), and senior Grace Behrens (Mishawaka, Indiana / Trinity School at Greenlawn) recorded a time of 3:59.23.

Hope's 4x100 relay is ninth. Freshman Ava Schmidt (Saline, Michigan / Saline), Behrens, senior Helen Dodge (Grosse Pointe Park, Michigan / Grosse Pointe South) and Sara Schermerhorn posted a run of 48.34.

Behrens is 11th in the 400 meters at 58.75 seconds.

Freshman Natalie Christnagel (Grosse Ile, Michigan / Grosse Ile) is tied for 17th in the high jump at 1.55 meters (5-1).

Senior Ellie Jankowski (Granger, Indiana / Penn) ranks 17th in the 800 meters at 2:17.44 and 21st in the 1,500 meters at 4:44.77.

Freshman Maddy Struck is 21st in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at 11:54.62.

Senior Riki Ediger (Hamilton, Michigan / Hamilton) is 29th in the javelin at 36.4 meters (119-5).

Three Hope distance runners are ranked in the Top 35 in the 5,000 meters: junior Rebecca Markham (Hoffman Estates, Illinois / William Fremd) is 28th at 18:03.64, senior Anna Mason (Zeeland, Michigan / Libertas Christian) is 32nd at 18:07.27, and junior Olivia Quillan (Grandville, Michigan / Calvin Christian) is 35th at 18:10.44.
