Abby Fansler, Women's Golf Beat Trine in Spring Opener

The Hope College women's golf team teed off its spring season with a 341-350 victory against Trine University on Thursday.

Junior Abby Fansler (Muskegon, Michigan / Reeths-Puffer HS) carded a 9-over-par 81 to claim medalist honors.

Senior Rita Cheney (Mason, Michigan / Mason) chipped an 82 for Hope.

Trine's Maire Sullivan topped the Thunder with an 84.

Freshman Sara Muir (Ada, Michigan / Grand Rapids Christian) shot an 87 for the Flying Dutch.

Freshman Caydee Constant (Grand Haven, Michigan / Grand Haven) rounded out Hope's scoring with an 81.

The Flying Dutch also received a 96 from sophomore Sarah Owens (Charlotte, Michigan / Charlotte).

Hope returns to action on Saturday, April 1, with a 1 p.m. rematch at Trine at Zollner Golf Course in Angola, Indiana.
