Women's Golf Finishes Third During Second Round of MIAA NCAA Championships Qualifier

The Hope College women's golf team shot a team score of 330 during the second round of the MIAA's NCAA Division III Championships qualifier on Friday in Tecumseh, Michigan.

Senior Rita Cheney (Mason, Michigan / Mason HS) tied for sixth place by carding a team-leading 7-over-par 79 at Tecumseh Golf Club.

The Flying Dutch sit in third place after 36 holes with a two-round total of 648.

Host Adrian College took over the overall lead after firing a 307 on Friday. With a total of 620, the Bulldogs lead second-place Saint Mary's College by six strokes. Alma College (702) is in fourth place.

The final round tees off on Saturday, April 15, at 11 a.m. at Tecumseh Golf Club.

During the second round, freshman Sara Muir (Ada, Michigan / Grand Rapids Christian) tied for ninth with an 82 for Hope.

Freshman Caydee Constant (Grand Haven, Michigan / Grand Haven) chipped in an 84.

Junior Abby Fansler (Muskegon, Michigan / Reeths-Puffer) and sophomore Sarah Owens (Charlotte, Michigan / Charlotte) both shot 85s.
