Men's Lacrosse Neutralizes Thunder, Downs Trine

The Hope College men's lacrosse team clamped down with a superb defensive effort and earned a 19-2 victory against visiting Trine University on Saturday.

The Flying Dutchmen matched their season-best for goals allowed, while allowing their goalkeeper to face only 11 Thunder shots.

Hope (7-5 overall) evened its MIAA record at 1-1.

After Collin Coster scored at the 3:15 mark for the Thunder, Hope did not yield another goal until the 2:34 mark of the third quarter and extended its lead to 15-1.

The Flying Dutchmen scored three man-up goals in 28 seconds from senior attacker Alex Goodall (Clarkston, Michigan / Lutheran Northwest), Stecco and junior midfielder Jack Cervantes (Canton, Michigan / Canton) during a one-minute, unreleasable Trine penalty midway through the second quarter.

Mann topped Hope with seven points on a game-high four goals and three assists.
