The Hope College women's golf team finished in third place in the MIAA's NCAA Division III Championships qualifier on Saturday by shooting a final round team score of 317 at the Tecumseh Golf Club.Â
The Flying Dutch fired Saturday's lowest round at 317 for a total score of 647 placing them in third place, just ten strokes behind second place Saint Mary's College. Adrian College, the regular-season MIAA champion and host of the final two rounds, captured the total and the league's automatic berth to the NCAA Championships with 625 strokes.Â
Senior Rita Cheney (Mason, Michigan / Mason HS) led the Flying Dutch after carding a 6-over-par 78 to tie for fourth place overall.Â
Sara Muir (Ada, Michigan / Grand Rapids Christian) shot an 80 for Hope to tie for eighth place in the three-round event.Â
Abby Fansler (Muskegon, Michigan / Muskegon Reeths-Puffer) chipped in a 79 to complete the tournament.Â
Sarah Owens (Charlotte, Michigan / Charlotte) also secured an 80 in round three to take home 13th place.Â
Freshman Caydee Constant (Grand Haven, Michigan / Grand Haven) chipped in a 90.
