Hope College Holds Lead After MIAA Commissioner's Cup Winter Update

Fueled by three MIAA championships in February, Hope College sits in first place after the winter update of the 2022-23 MIAA Commissioner's Cup race.

Hope totals 109.5 points after winter and fall competition and leads second-place Calvin University by 6 ½ points. Trine University is in third place with 90 points. Albion College is fourth with 85.

The winter update is an unofficial look at the MIAA Commissioner's Cup standings and includes each team's MIAA finish in eight men's sports (four fall, four winter) and seven women's sports (four fall, three winter).

The MIAA Commissioner's Cup award is based on the cumulative performance of each member school in the league's 23 sports: 11 in women's sports and 12 in men's sports.  Each school counts its top eight finishes by gender.

This winter, Hope earned MIAA Championships in women's swimming and diving and women's indoor track and field, and shared the regular-season title in women's basketball.

Hope also finished runner-up at the MIAA Men's Swimming and Diving Championships, took third during the men's basketball regular-season standings and placed fourth at the MIAA Indoor Track and Field Championships.

Hope is the MIAA's top point-getter in women's sports with 57.5 points and in men's sports with 52.
