Four From Men's Tennis Named to College Sports Communicators Academic All-District® Teams

Four Hope College men's tennis student-athletes have been named to the 2023 Academic All-District® Men's Tennis Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators.

Seniors Jacob Burkett and Matt Henkel, junior Justin Fay and sophomore Austin Becksvoort advanced to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot for NCAA Division III. First-, second-, and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced on Wednesday, May 31.

The CSC Academic All-America® program recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The program separately recognizes men's tennis honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

This is the first year men's and women's tennis have had their own award categories.

Burkett (Clarkston, Michigan / Clarkston majored in business while playing No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles for the Flying Dutchmen. Burkett earned All-MIAA First Team honors for the third time this season.

Henkel (Traverse City, Michigan / Traverse City Central) is a business and economics major who played No. 4 singles and No. 1 doubles for Hope. Henkel claimed All-MIAA honors for the first time this season as a second-team recipient.

Fay (Naperville, Illinois / St. Francis) is a computer science major who played No. 4 and No. 5 singles for the Flying Dutchmen and No. 3 doubles.

Becksvoort (Holland, Michigan / Holland Christian) is a chemistry and chemical engineering major who played No. 6 singles and No. 3 doubles for the Flying Dutchmen.

The Division III CSC Academic All-America® program is partially financially supported by the NCAA Division III national governance structures to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2022-23 Division III Academic All-America® programs.
