The top-seeded Hope College women's lacrosse team is seeking to add its first MIAA Tournament title this week on its turf.

Regular-season champions, the Flying Dutch open tournament play on Wednesday, May 3, at 4 p.m., with a home semifinal against fourth-seeded Calvin University at Van Andel Soccer Stadium.

The winner advances to the title game on Saturday, May 6, at the site of the highest remaining seed. Wednesday's other semifinal features third-seeded Saint Mary's College at second-seeded Alma College at 7 p.m.

Led by head coach Keagan Pontious, Hope (10-5 overall) is the No. 1 seed for the first time after winning the regular-season championship with a 7-0 league record.

Alma, Saint Mary's and Calvin tied for second place with 5-2 league records. The seeding was determined by goal differential between the three teams in their games against each other.

The MIAA Tournament champion receives the league's automatic berth to the NCAA Division III Championships.

The Flying Dutch are 4-8 all-time in MIAA Tournament play, including a 1-0 mark in first-round games, a 3-5 record in semifinal games and a 0-3 mark in championship games.

This is Hope's fourth postseason meeting against Calvin. The Flying Dutch are 1-2 against the Knights, including a 19-9 Hope victory in the 2021 semifinals.

On April 22, the Flying Dutch won the regular-season game at Calvin, 16-9. Hope rallied from a 4-1 first-quarter deficit.

The Flying Dutch are on a three-game winning streak in the series but trail the all-time series, 11-5.

Hope is 0-1 against Alma in MIAA Tournament play and 2-2 against Saint Mary's.
