Women's Soccer Edged at Ohio Wesleyan

The Hope College women's soccer team suffered its first loss of the season with a 1-0 defeat at Ohio Wesleyan University on Saturday.

Ohio Wesleyan made a first-half goal stand-up to drop the Flying Dutch's record to 2-1-2 overall.

Goalkeeper Natalie Ryan out-dueled Hope counterpart Clara Feenstra by recording 11 saves.

Ohio Wesleyan (3-2-2) is the first team to shut out Hope this season.

Feenstra (Hudsonville, Michigan / Hudsonville HS) finished with nine saves, including five during the second half.

Ohio Wesleyan (3-2-2) scored in the 24th minute when Ava Bruns buried home a rebound that came off a Feenstra save off a Madison Cofer shot.

The Flying Dutch outshot Ohio Wesleyan by a 19-17 margin.

Hope returns to action on Wednesday, Sept. 20, at 6:30 p.m. with a non-league game at Wheaton College (Ill.).
