Women's Soccer Rallies Late for Draw at Wheaton

The Hope College women's soccer team struck for a second-half goal to earn a 1-1 draw at Wheaton College (Ill.) on Wednesday.

Senior forward Madison Holloway (Macatawa, Michigan / Holland Christian HS) scored in the 69th minute off a pass in the box from sophomore Ainsley Harris (Zeeland, Michigan / Holland Christian).

It was Holloway's first goal of the season and the 15th of her career.

The assist was the first for Harris at Hope.

Wheaton (0-4-3) held the lead for much of the game after a Katherine Ashley goal off a give-and-go with Emily Setran in the 18th minute.

The shot was Wheaton's second of the game.

Hope outshot the Thunder by a 20-9 margin.

Wheaton goalkeeper Myah Schoolman recorded eight saves.

The Flying Dutch's Clara Feenstra (Hudsonville, Michigan / Hudsonville) finished with two saves.

Hope returns to action on Saturday, Sept. 23, at noon with a non-league game against the University of Chicago at Van Andel Soccer Stadium.

There is a team poster giveaway after the game. A special thanks to Schreur Printing and Mailing for its support of Hope Athletics.
