Four from Hope College have been selected as Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Men's Athletes of the Week: Liam Casey in men's golf, Thomas De Vries in men's soccer, Cole Pauly in men's soccer, and Connor Vachon in men's cross country.
Casey (Northville, Michigan / Detroit Catholic Central HS) is the MIAA Men's Golfer of the Week for the first time this season and the fourth time in his career.
The sophomore shot rounds of 4-under-par 67 and 71 last week to claim medalist honors and lead the Flying Dutchmen to a first-place finish at Carthage College's Strawberry Classic.Â
De Vries (Byron Center, Michigan / South Christian) is the MIAA Men's Soccer Offensive Athlete of the Week for the first time in his career.
The junior midfielder and public accounting/business major recorded points in each of the Flying Dutchmen's three victories last week against the University of Olivet, the No. 3-ranked University of Chicago and Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology (Ind.).
De Vries scored a goal during a 3-0 victory against Olivet and during a 1-0 victory against Rose-Hulman while also assisting on the game-winner against Chicago.
Pauly (Mundelein, Illinois / Mundelein) is the MIAA Men's Soccer Defensive Athlete of the Week for the first time this season and the second time in his career.
Vachon (Jenison, Michigan / Jenison) is the MIAA Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Week for the first time this season and the fifth time in his career.
