Women's Cross Country Runner and Tennis Player Honored by the MIAA

Two from Hope College have been chosen as Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Women's Athletes of the Week: Amanda Lopykinski in women's tennis and Maddy Struck in women's cross country.

Lopykinski (Lemont, Illinois / Lemont Township) is the MIAA Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week for the first time this season and the second time in her career.


The sophomore neuroscience major went 3-1 in singles play and 4-0 in doubles matches during the Flying Dutch's two-day tournament last weekend on campus.

Struck (Hainesville, Illinois / Grayslake Central) is the MIAA Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week for the first time.

The exercise science major posted a sixth-place run of 21 minutes, 54.7 seconds to lead the nationally-ranked Flying Dutch to a third-place effort at the Wheaton College Gil Dodds Invitational on Saturday.
