Women's Track/Field Wins Three Events at GVSU's Lints Alumni Meet

The Hope College women's indoor track and field team posted three first-place performances on Saturday at Grand Valley State University.

Junior thrower Greta Robrahn (Zeeland, Michigan / Zeeland East HS) led a 1-2 Flying Dutch effort in the shot put by recording a toss of 12.83 meters (42 feet, 1 ¼ inches) at the non-scoring Mike Lints Alumni Meet.

Sophomore sprinter Sara Schermerhorn (Traverse City, Michigan / Traverse City West) clocked a winning 200-meter run of 25.32 seconds.

Sophomore Elliana Johnson (East Lansing, Michigan / Haslett) topped the triple jump by leaping 10.13 meters (33-3).

Hope produced top-10 finishes in 10 total events.

In the 60-meter dash, Schermerhorn placed runner-up by recording a run of 7.86 seconds.

In the shot put, sophomore Kamryn Bice (Monroe, Michigan / Monroe) finished second with a heave of 12.64 meters (41-5 ¾). Senior Libby Strotman (Park Ridge, Illinois / Maine Township) took sixth at 11.02 meters (36-2). Junior Alana Policastro (Geneva, Illinois / Geneva Community) was seventh at 10.97 meters (36-0).

In the triple jump, freshman Kiersten Schmitt (Rockford, Michigan / Grand Rapids Christian) posted a runner-up triple jump of 8.68 meters (28-5 ¾).

In the high jump, junior Allison Schram (Fenton, Michigan / Hartland) tied for third place with a leap of 1.55 meters (5-1). Sophomore Natalie Christnagel (Grosse Ile, Michigan / Grosse Ile) tied for fifth at 1.55 (5-1) after recording fewer successful jumps than Schram.

In the 4x400 relay, Hope sophomore Catherine Leahy (Elk Rapids, Michigan / Elk Rapids), Schermerhorn, senior Erin Moran (Arlington Heights, Illinois / John Hersey) and sophomore Frances Cozzens (Lyman, New Hampshire / Saint Johnsbury) combined for a fourth-place time of 4:07.33.

In the weight throw, Policastro posted a fifth-place toss of 12.68 meters (41-7 ¾). Sophomore Sophia Raymond (Woodstock, Illinois / Woodstock) finished sixth at 12.46 meters (40-10 ½). Junior Marlie McDonald (Saranac, Michigan / Lowell) took seventh at 12.35 meters (40-6 ¼). Freshman Elsa Clausen (Seneca, Illinois / Oswego East) was eighth at 12.32 meters (40-5).

In the long jump, Johnson recorded a fifth-place leap of 4.87 meters (15-11 ¾). Sophomore Meredith Kramer (Grosse Pointe Park, Michigan / Grosse Pointe South) was ninth at 4.57 meters (15-0).

In the 800 meters, sophomore Molly Durow (Glenview, Illinois / Glenbrook South) clocked an eighth-place time of 2:21.31. Freshman Amanda Markham (Hoffman Estates, Illinois / William Fremd) took 10th at 2:22.73.

In the 400 meters, Moran finished ninth at 1:01.27.

In the mile run, sophomore Madison Stern (Saline, Michigan / Saline) placed 10th at 5:11.46.

Hope's next meet is on Friday, Jan. 26, at noon at GVSU's Bill Clinger Classic.
