Madison Stern and Lexi Deighan Lead Women's Cross Country at Inter-Regional Invitational

The Hope College women's cross country team finished 24th out of 35 teams at the Augustana University Inter-Regional Invitational on Saturday in Rock Island, Illinois.

Junior Madison Stern (Saline, Michigan / Saline HS) clocked the fastest 6K time in the field of 355 runners at Saukie Golf Course.

Stern finished in 133rd place at 23 minutes, 34.4 seconds.

Junior Lexi Deighan (Birmingham, Michigan / Seaholm) recorded a 135th-place run of 23:35.1.

Senior Audrey White (Norton Shores, Michigan / Mona Shores) placed 136h at 23:35.6.

Sophomore Annika Sytsma (Kalamazoo, Michigan / South Christian) finished 144th at 23:56.2.

Freshman Maddie VandeBunte (Jenison, Michigan / Jenison) took 161st with a time of 23:52.9.

Sophomore Amanda Markham (Hoffman Estates, Illinois / William Fremd) recorded a 168th-place run of 23:58.3.

Junior Molly Durow (Glenview, Illinois / Glenbrook South) placed 178th at 24:06.3.

Sophomore Paige King (Glenbard, Illinois / Glenbard West) finished 182nd at 24:14.0.

The Flying Dutch totaled 650 points. No. 2-ranked Colorado College won the meet with 56 points.

Hope's next meet is the MIAA Championships on Saturday, Nov. 2, hosted by Calvin University at the Gainey Athletic Complex in Grand Rapids.

The meet starts at 11 a.m. and will feature women's and men's races.
