It was a sunny and smile-filled day for the Hope College women's soccer team on Saturday.
The Flying Dutch defeated Alma College, 5-0, at Van Andel Soccer Stadium and extended their winning streak to seven.
Hope is now 7-2-1 on the season and 2-0 in MIAA play.
Four different goal scorers fueled the Flying Dutch against Alma (0-8, 0-2 MIAA).
Junior Lina Rea (Macomb, Michigan / Utica HS) powered the Hope offense with two goals, including one in each half.
Sophomore Halle Barnard (Rockford, Michigan / Rockford) opened the scoring in the 11th minute, putting in the eventual game-winning-goal for her first goal of the season.
Rea followed in the 27th minute for a 2-0 halftime lead.
In the second half, senior Olivia Dieppa (Hudsonville, Michigan / Hudsonville) grabbed her third goal of the season in the 57th minute. Rea struck again in the 62nd minute.
Freshman Sydney Mefford (Westfield, Indiana / Westfield) added her second career goal in the 79th minute.
Sophomore Clara Feenstra (Hudsonville, Michigan / Hudsonville) and senior Kendall Robertson (Jackson, Michigan / Western) split time in net to blank the Scots. Feenstra made two saves while in net.
Hope heads out on the road to continue league play on Tuesday, Oct. 8, at 7 p.m. at Albion College.
