Three from Hope College have been chosen MIAA Athletes of the Week: senior Gabe Quillan in men's basketball, and junior Brooke Fox and senior Samantha Seib in women's volleyball.
Quillan (Ada, Michigan / Grand Rapids Catholic Central HS) is the MIAA Men's Basketball Athlete of the Week for the first time this season and the fifth time in his career.
The 6-9 center helped the 21st-ranked Flying Dutchmen win two road games last week in Ohio: 74-64 at Wilmington College on Friday and 68-63 at Wittenberg University on Saturday.
Quillan averaged 16.5, 8.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 2.0 blocks and 1.0 steals per game. The business major also shot 53.3% from the field (8-15) and 76.2% from the free-throw line (16-21).
Fox (Saunemin, Illinois / Pontiac Township) is the MIAA Volleyball Athlete of the Week for the first time in her career.
The 5-9 Fox contributed to two victories last week for the second-ranked Flying Dutch that led to an MIAA Tournament title repeat.Â
During Friday's 3-0 semifinal win against Trine, Fox totaled seven kills, two service aces, two blocks, seven digs, and a team-best 10 points.Â
The biology major then totaled 11 kills, two service aces, nine digs, and 13.5 points during Saturday's 3-1 championship victory against Calvin.
Seib (Elkhorn, Wisconsin / Catholic Central) is the MIAA Volleyball Specialist of the Week for the first time in her career.
The 5-8 biology major collected match-highs of 21 digs against Trine and 26 against Calvin.
