Four Voted to D3football All-Region Teams on Offense and Special Teams

Four members of the MIAA champion Hope College football team have been chosen for the D3football.com All-Region Teams for Offense and Special Teams: right tackle Dylan Clem, running back Chance Strickland, left tackle Luke Marsh and kick returner Tyler Amos.

Clem and Strickland are among 13 first-team selections in Region 4. Marsh and Amos received third-team accolades.

Region 4 includes teams from the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association, Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference, North Coast Athletic Conference and the Ohio Athletic Conference.

The Flying Dutchmen also put five on the D3football all-region teams for defense.

Clem (Stevensville, Michigan / Lakeshore HS) and Marsh (Montague, Michigan / Montague) anchored both ends of a powerful offensive line that propelled the Flying Dutchmen into becoming one of the nation's top units.

A civil engineering major, Clem claimed all-region honors for the second consecutive season. Marsh, a special education major, earned them for the first time.

Hope ranked in the Top 10 in the nation in several offensive categories, including scoring offense, rushing yards and total offense.

The Flying Dutchmen set program records for points scored with 513, total offense with 6,096 yards, rushing offense with 3,437 and first downs with 312.

Hope finished the season with a 11-1 record and reached the third round of the NCAA Division III Playoffs for the first time in program history. The Flying Dutchmen recorded the first 10-0 regular season in school history and claimed an outright MIAA title.

Both Clem and Marsh also received All-MIAA First Team accolades.

Strickland (Mason, Michigan / Mason) rushed for career-highs in rushing yards with 939 and touchdowns with 18. The senior averaged 6.6 yards per carry over 143 carries and 10 games.

A business and economics major, Strickland ranked among Division III's leaders in rushing touchdowns.

Strickland was named the MIAA's Most Valuable Offensive Player and an All-MIAA First Team selection for the second time.

Amos (Portage, Michigan / Portage Northern) made the all-region team as a kick returner after averaging 35.3 yards per kickoff return and returning one kickoff for a touchdown. The senior broke a 7-7 tie in the first half at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology (Indiana) with an 87-yard return for a touchdown on Sept. 21.

An exercise science major, Amos also lined up at running back for the Flying Dutchmen and rushed for 928 yards and 12 touchdowns on 120 carries.

Amos was an All-MIAA Second Team honoree as a running back as well.
