Top-Ranked Men's Hockey Tops Saint Vincent in OT, Sweeps Series

The top-ranked Hope College ice hockey team skated to a pair of victories on home ice against Saint Vincent College (Pennsylvania) over the weekend.

The Flying Dutchmen won, 7-1, on Friday, and, 3-2, in overtime on Saturday at Griff's IceHouse West in Holland Township.

Hope improved to 17-2-1 on the season.

On Friday, sophomore right wing Brady Breit (Byron Center, Michigan / Byron Center HS) scored a game-high two goals.

Junior center Jake Onstott (Zeeland, Michigan / Grand Rapids Catholic Central) chipped in a game-high four assists and one goal.

The Flying Dutchmen never trailed after scoring the game's first four goals.

Senior goalkeeper Maclane Schick (Kohler, Wisconsin / Kohler) made 18 saves in goal.

On Saturday, Onstott delivered the game-winner 1 minute, 6 seconds into overtime off an assist from freshman center Ryan Jaros (Portage, Michigan / Portage Central).

Hope jumped to a 2-0 lead in the first quarter, but Saint Vincent pulled even by scoring early in the second and third periods.

Sophomore defenseman Collin Peal (Grand Rapids, Michigan / Grand Rapids Christian) and junior forward Keegan McNamara (Linden, Michigan / Fenton) each chipped in goals for the Flying Dutchmen.

Freshman Sebastian Wigfield (Blue Hill, Maine / Saint Ignatius College Prep) stopped 18 shots.

Hope returns to action on Friday-Saturday, Jan. 10-11, 2025, with a home-and-home series against Davenport University.
