Women's Track/Field Clocks Second-Fastest Indoor Time Ever in the 4x400 Relay

The Hope College women's indoor track and field team recorded its second-fastest 4x400 relay ever this weekend at Grand Valley State University.

Sophomore Catherine Leahy (Elk Rapids, Michigan / Elk Rapids HS), junior Sara Schermerhorn (Traverse City, Michigan / Traverse City West), senior Erin Moran (Arlington Heights, Illinois / John Hersey) and freshman Stella Farmer (Brighton, Michigan / Brighton) posted a converted time of 4 minutes, 2.02 seconds.

The relay finished fourth at GVSU's Big Meet, which featured NCAA Division I and II entrants.

The time ranks 19th in NCAA Division III this season.

The Hope record of 3;57.75 was set last season by Julie Timperman, Schermerhorn, Moran and Grace Behrens.

In the 200 meters, Schermerhorn placed sixth with a non-converted time of 24.89 seconds.

In the distance medley relay, Hope placed 12th behind a non-converted run of 12:06.56 from sophomore Madison Stern (Saline, Michigan / Saline), Schermerhorn, Moran and senior Rebecca Markham (Hoffman Estates, Illinois / William Fremd).

Hope's next meet is Friday, Feb. 16, at 3 p.m. at the Grand Valley State University Tune-Up.
