Hope College's Chris Van Timmeren '98 has been selected as the Michigan Collegiate Hockey Conference Coach of the Year for the 2023-24 season.

This is the seventh time Van Timmeren has received the honor: He previously claimed it in 2020, 2012, 2011, 2010, 2007, and 2005.

Van Timmeren led the Flying Dutchmen to an MCHC West Division title this season with a 10-2 division record.

Fifth-ranked Hope (22-5 overall) is the West Division's top seed for the MCHC Vezina Cup playoffs that begin this weekend.

This season, Van Timmeren coached five all-conference selections: MCHC Dream Team and West Division First-Team defenseman Ian MacDonald, MCHC Dream Team and West Division First-Team forward Jake Onstott, second-team forward Jake Adams, second-team defenseman Casen Faustyn and second-team goalkeeper Maclane Schick.

Van Timmeren has coached the Flying Dutchmen since the 2000-01 season and guided them to 539 wins over 24 seasons.

The Grand Rapids native has led Hope to American Collegiate Hockey Association Division 3 national titles in 2022, 2021 and 2018 and 22 consecutive winning seasons.
