Three Hope College student-athletes have been chosen as MIAA Athletes of the Week:
Cameron Hamilton (women's diving),
Eli Meder (indoor men's track) and
Ashlea Swingewood (women's swimming).
Hamilton (Libertyville, Illinois / Libertyville HS) is being honored for the second time this season and the fourth time in her career.
The senior political science major helped the 12th-ranked Flying Dutch defeated No. 15 Calvin University, 159-141, on Saturday.
Hamilton won on the 1-meter board with a score of 233.35 points. Hope trailed by one point with three events remaining, including the 1-meter diving.
Swingewood (Carmel, Indiana / Carmel) claims the weekly MIAA recognition for the first time this season and the second time in her career.
The sophomore also helped clinch a perfect 5-0 MIAA dual meet record for the Flying Dutch. Swingewood rallied to win the 200 butterfly in a time of 2:12.98 and finished runner-up in the 500 freestyle with a swim of 5:19.00. Swingewood took third in a 1-2-3
Hope sweep in the 200 individual medley in the meet's second-to-last event.Â
Meder (Williamston, Michigan / Lansing Catholic) is earning the honor for the first time this season and the second time in his career.
The senior business and economics major clocked one of NCAA Division III's fastest times in the 800 meters at the University of Notre Dame's Meyo Invitational on Saturday.
Meder's converted run of 1:52.40 bettered her own Hope indoor record and ranks him among the nation's top qualifiers for next month's national championships.
