Julia Brown's Six Points Power Women's Lacrosse Past Aurora

Five different goal scorers in the second stanza fueled the 17-9 victory for the Hope College women's lacrosse team at Aurora University on Wednesday.

The Flying Dutch improved to 4-3 this season with their second consecutive victory.

The eight-goal period pushed Hope's lead to 11-6 at halftime.

The teams combined for just four goals within the first 10 minutes of play, before Hope's offense erupted, scoring eight of the 10 second-period goals to establish control of the game.

The Flying Dutch continued outscoring their opponent to start the second half, doubling them up, 16-8, through three periods of play.

The win matched the Flying Dutch's best defensive effort of the season. Hope also held Williamette to just nine goals on March 12 in a 15-9 win.

Hope showed dominance in draw controls, with sophomore Caleigh Randall (Lansing, Michigan / DeWitt HS) winning a game-high 11.

Sophomore Julia Brown (Grand Rapids, Michigan / Forest Hills Central) added four goals in the win to give her a team-leading 24 goals this season.

Brown put in three of Hope's eight goals during the second period, and added in two assists during the win for a six-point evening.

Sophomore Sydney LaPrairie (Rochester, Michigan / Stoney Creek), juniors Kerrigan Brown (DeWitt, Michigan / DeWitt) and Juli Kirkpatrick (Granger, Indiana / Penn), and Randall all tallied two goals apiece.

Senior Elena Salazar (Howell, Michigan / Hartland) picked up a game-high 10 ground balls.

Senior goalkeeper Maddie Yakes (Rockford, Michigan / Rockford) made eight saves in goal for the Flying Dutch, and grabbed five ground balls.

Hope concludes non-league play on Saturday, March 30, at 2 p.m. against the University of Chicago at Van Andel Soccer Stadium.
