Women's Golf Finishes Runner-Up at Trine Invitational; Allyson Zuidema Earns Medalist Honors

Led by freshman Allyson Zuidema, the Hope College women's golf team started the spring season on a strong note.

The Flying Dutch finished runner-up by just one stroke at the Trine University Spring Classic on Friday, shooting a team score of 332 at Zollner Golf Course and trailing only first-place Saint Mary's College (331).

Zuidema (Northville, Michigan / Northville HS) fired a 3-over-par 75 to earn medalist honors at the 16-team, 95-golfer event. Indiana Tech's Andrea Aizpurua placed two strokes back in second place.

Senior Abby Fansler (Muskegon, Michigan / Reeths-Puffer) chipped in an 83 for Hope and finished 14th in the individual standings.

Sophomore Caydee Constant (Grand Haven, Michigan / Grand Haven) carded an 86 for the Flying Dutch.

Sophomore Sara Muir (Ada, Michigan / Grand Rapids Christian) shot an 88.

Freshman Rachael Jones (Grove City, Ohio / City) had an 89 for Hope's top group.

Senior Abby Derocher (Farmington, Michigan / North Farmington) chipped in a 86.

Hope's B team placed ninth with a total of 354.

Freshman Jaiden Winters (New Carlisle, Indiana / New Prairie) led this group with an 83.

Her sister, Jordan Winters (New Carlisle, Indiana / New Prairie) shot an 87.

Junior Sarah Owens (Charlotte, Michigan / Charlotte) chipped in a 91.

Sophomore Hannah Finch (Dexter, Michigan / Dexter) posted a 93.

Sophomore Sammi Campbell (Grand Haven, Michigan / Grand Haven) had a 95.

Hope's next event is Thursday, April 11, at 1 p.m. at the MIAA Jamboree hosted by Trine at Zollner Golf Course.
