Cade Seabaugh Homers Twice, Including Walk-Off, to Secure Sweep of Olivet

The MIAA-leading Hope College baseball team capped a three-game series sweep of The University of Olivet with an 11-0 victory on Monday.

The Flying Dutchmen ended the game early on a two-run, walk-off homer by sophomore designated hitter Cade Seabaugh (Ballwin, Missouri / Ladue Horton HS) in the bottom of the seventh inning at Boeve Baseball Stadium.

Hope improved to 15-12 overall and 9-2 in MIAA play. The Flying Dutchmen lead second-place Kalamazoo by one game and third-place Adrian College and Alma College by 1 ½ games.

On Tuesday, April 16, at 4 p.m., Hope plays at Kalamazoo to wrap their season series. Both teams have one game so far.

Batting cleanup, Seabaugh finished the game with a career-high five RBIs while going 3-for-4 with two home runs and three runs scored.

Seabaugh's two-out blast finished a five-run seventh for the Flying Dutchmen.

The offense proved more than enough for junior pitcher Trent Johnson (Midland, Michigan / H.H. Dow). The righthander upped his record to 4-3 by firing a complete-game, five-hit shutout with seven strikeouts to just two walks.

Hope homered three times in a game for the first time this season.

Sophomore leftfielder Brenden Collins (Kalamazoo, Michigan / Hackett Catholic) opened the scoring with a solo blast in the second.

The Flying Dutchmen broke open the game with a four-run third. Seabaugh's two-run double started the rally.

Seabaugh launched a solo homer in the fifth. He leads Hope with three home runs on the season.

The Flying Dutchmen collected 10 hits against Olivet (7-21, 1-10).

Senior first baseman Owen Krizan (Grand Haven, Michigan / Grand Haven) went 3-for-4 for Hope.
