The Hope College women's golf team sits in third place among eight teams after the first round of the MIAA Spring Finish championships.Â
The Flying Dutch shot 334Â as a team at Gull Lake View Golf Course in Augusta, Michigan, on Monday.
Adrian College leads the field for the 36-hole, two-day event after carding a 327. Second-place Saint Mary's College is five strokes in back of Adrian.
Hope moved into fourth place in the MIAA seasonal standings and surpassed Albion College by 11 strokes. Saint Mary's takes a nine-stroke lead into the final round on Tuesday, April 23, at 10 a.m. at Gull Lake View.
Senior Abby Fansler carded Hope's top score with a 6-over-par 78.
Fansler (Muskegon, Michigan / Reeths-Puffer HS) is tied for third in the individual standings — just three strokes behind leader Grace Dubec of Trine University.Â
Freshman Allyson Zuidema (Northville, Michigan / Northville) finished the first day shooting an 84 for the Flying Dutch.
Freshman Rachael Jones (Grove City, Ohio / Grove City) finished one stroke behind Zuidema.Â
Freshman Jaiden Winters (New Carlisle, Indiana / New Carlisle) chipped in an 87.
Sophomore Sara Muir (Ada, Michigan / Grand Rapids Christian) shot a 91 for Hope.
Sophomore Caydee Constant (Grand Haven, Michigan / Grand Haven) finished with a 93.Â
