Six MIAA Spring Championships to be Held This Week

It is MIAA Championship week for six Hope College spring sports.

Men's and women's lacrosse, men's and women's tennis, and men's outdoor track and field all are competing this week.

Three of the postseason events will be held on the Hope campus. MIAA Tournament champions in men's and women's lacrosse and men's and women's tennis receive automatic berths to the NCAA Division III Championships.

On Wednesday, May 1, there will be two MIAA Tournament lacrosse semifinals at Van Andel Soccer Stadium.

At 4:30 p.m., the MIAA regular-season champion Flying Dutch lacrosse team will host fourth-seeded Albion College. The winner advances to face either second-seeded Kalamazoo College or third-seeded Trine University on Saturday, May 4, at the site of the highest remaining seed.

At 7:30 p.m., the MIAA regular-season Flying Dutchmen lacrosse team plays fourth-seeded Adrian College. The winner meets either second-seeded Albion College or third-seeded Calvin University on Saturday, May 4, at the site of the highest remaining seed.

Tickets for men's and women's lacrosse can be purchased in advance through the MIAA website or at the gate beginning on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m.

Also on Wednesday, the fourth-seeded Flying Dutchmen tennis team will play at top-seeded Kalamazoo College in the MIAA Tournament Semifinals at 4 p.m. The winner will face either second-seeded Calvin University or third-seeded Trine University on Friday, May 3, in the championship match. Kalamazoo, Calvin and Trine shared the regular-season title.

On Thursday, May 2, the MIAA regular-season champion Flying Dutch tennis team hosts fourth-seeded Kalamazoo College for a 4 p.m. semifinal at the VandePoel-Heeringa Stadium Courts. The winner plays either second-seeded Calvin or third-seeded Saint Mary's College.

The MIAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships will be hosted by Calvin University on Thursday-Friday, May 2-3, at Grand Rapids Christian High School. Competition begins at noon each day.

Admission is free for the MIAA Men's and Women's Tennis, and Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
