Two Named MIAA Athletes of the Week

Two from Hope College have received weekly honors from the MIAA: senior Logan DeWitt in men's golf and junior Connor Vachon in men's outdoor track.

Both are receiving the honor for the first time this season and in their careers.

DeWitt (Zeeland, Michigan / Holland Christian HS) claimed MIAA Men's Golfer of the Week recognition after earning co-medalist honors at the MIAA Spring Finale last week and helping the Flying Dutchmen repeat as MIAA season champions.

The business major carded rounds of even-par 72 and 77 at Legacy Golf Course in Adrian and finished in a two-way tie for first place.

DeWitt's performance on the link also allowed Hope to claim an automatic berth to the NCAA Division III Championships next month in Boulder City, Nevada, outside of Las Vegas.

Vachon (Jenison, Michigan / Jenison) is the MIAA Men's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week.

The junior computer science and mathematics education major clocked the MIAA's fastest outdoor time in the 1,500 meters this spring with a run of 3 minutes, 47.63 seconds at Grand Valley State University on Thursday.

Vachon's time is the eighth-fastest in NCAA Division III this season.
