Keagan Pontious Voted as the MIAA Women's Lacrosse Coach of the Year

Hope College's Keagan Pontious has been voted the 2024 MIAA Women's Lacrosse Coach of the Year.

The award is voted on by league coaches and based on the achievements of their colleagues during both regular-season and postseason competition.

Pontious guided the Flying Dutch to their second consecutive MIAA regular-season and tournament titles.

Hope competed in the first round of the NCAA Division III Tournament and finished with a 13-5 overall record. The 13 wins were the most in a single season in program history.

The Flying Dutch went 7-0 in MIAA play and defeated two league opponents in the MIAA Tournament.

"I am excited and honored to receive this award, but I could not have done it without our assistant coach, Rich Pruszynski," Pontious told the MIAA. "I am incredibly grateful to be at Hope and coach an unbelievable group of young women who are resilient and spread joy to others every day. They are driven and believe in each other, which is amazing to watch and be a part of."

Under the leadership of Pontious, eight players were selected to 2024 All-MIAA Teams, including 2024 MIAA Offensive Player of the Year and two-time All-MIAA honoree, sophomore attacker Julia Brown.

Since taking over the program in 2019, Pontious has led the Flying Dutch to a 48-23 record.
