Kevin Cole '88 Voted as 2024 MIAA Women's Outdoor Track and Field Coach of the Year

Hope College's Kevin Cole has been chosen as the 2024 MIAA Women's Outdoor Track and Field Coach of the Year.

Cole swept the season honors after being selected as the MIAA Women's Indoor Track and Field Coach of the Year in March.

The MIAA Coach of the Year awards are voted on by league coaches and based on the achievements of their colleagues during both regular-season and postseason competition.

In his 19th season, Cole led the Flying Dutch to a sixth consecutive MIAA outdoor championship with a dominating performance at the league meet earlier this month.

Hope totaled 240 points over two days at the conference meet and finished 58 points ahead of the nearest competitors.

The title reign is the longest in program history.

"It's an honor to be chosen for this award," Cole told the MIAA. "Our conference has become very strong, and I am very proud of both of my teams for how hard they worked this year.  Congratulations to all the other coaches on the many national qualifiers and to Josh for winning the men's title."

Under the leadership of Cole, four individuals and two relays were named to the 2024 All-MIAA First Team, including the 4x100 meter relay, the 4x400 meter relay, sophomore Sara Schermerhorn in the 400-meter dash, senior Rebecca Markham in the 10,000-meter run, junior Greta Robrahn in the shot put, and junior Amanda Timonen in the javelin.
