David Uyl '99 Selected to Umpire in the NCAA Men's College World Series

The former Hope College baseball player gets the call to Omaha.

David Uyl '99 is one of eight baseball umpires chosen to work in the NCAA Men's College World Series in Omaha, Nebraska.

This is the first College World Series appearance for the former Hope College baseball player.

Uyl has 24 years of experience as an umpire in professional and Big Ten Conference baseball.

When he's not on the field, Uyl serves as the middle school athletic director at Pope John Paul II Preparatory School in Hendersonville, Tennessee.

"It's exciting to be selected with eight other guys from across the country," Uyl told his middle school. "This experience is the culmination of years of hard work, away from my family. So, I am excited for my family to be a part of this experience as we all head to Omaha."

The College World Series runs Friday-Monday, June 14-24. Games will air on ESPN, ESPN2 and ABC.
