Men's Basketball Claims NABC Team Academic Excellence Award, Five Named to Honors Court

The Hope College men's basketball team earned the 2023-24 National Association of Basketball Coaches Team Academic Excellence Award, while five student-athletes also made the NABC Honors Court.

Recent graduates Devin Cheaney, Clayton Dykhouse, Robert Nocek and Tanner Wiegerink represented the MIAA Tournament champion Flying Dutchmen on the Honors Court along with junior Gabe Quillan.

Cheaney (Batavia, Illinois / Batavia HS) majored in business while playing forward and serving as team co-captain.

Dykhouse (Zeeland, Michigan / Holland Christian) majored in physical and health education while playing guard and serving as team captain. He finished his career ranked 19th all-time in career scoring at Hope.

Nocek (Bloomingdale, Illinois / St. Francis) majored in business while playing forward.

Wiegerink (Holland, Michigan / West Ottawa) majored in physical and health education while earning All-MIAA First Team and D3hoops.com All-Region Third Team accolades as a forward.

Quillan (Ada, Michigan / Grand Rapids Catholic Central) majors in business and claimed All-MIAA Second Team honors.

More than 2,100 student-athletes claimed sports on the Honors Court.

More than 360 programs from all levels of college basketball received the Team Academic Excellence Award.
