Women's Golf Caps Winning 36-Hole Effort vs. Albion

The Hope College women's golf team members enjoyed the fruits of their labor.

The Flying Dutch posted a commanding season-open victory in a 36-hole, two-day event against Albion College this holiday weekend.

On Saturday, Hope shot a final-round 334 at Cascades Golf Course in Jackson for a two-course total of 661. The Flying Dutch finished 75 strokes ahead of Albion.

On Friday, Hope fired a 327 on its home course, Clearbrook Golf Course, in Saugatuck.

The Flying Dutch posted four of the five lowest 36-hole scores.

Sophomore Allyson Zuidema (Northville, Michigan / Northville HS) finished with a tournament-low 160 after shooting a 10-over-par 82 at Cascades Golf Course.

Sophomore Jaiden Winters (New Carlisle, Indiana / New Carlisle) was just one stroke behind after at 161 following a final-round 80 that was the top round of the day.

Sophomore Kylie Gernaat (Kalamazoo, Michigan / Kalamazoo Christian) took third at 165 after recording a final-round 84.

Junior Caydee Constant (Grand Haven, Michigan / Grand Haven) placed fourth at 175 following a final-round 88.

Junior Sara Muir (Ada, Michigan / Grand Rapids Christian) chipped in a final round 91 for Hope's top group.

The Flying Dutch also received scores on Saturday of 83 from sophomore Rachael Jones (Grove City, Ohio / Grove City), 85 from senior Sarah Owens (Charlotte, Michigan / Charlotte), 87 from junior Hannah Finch (Dexter, Michigan / Dexter), 88 from senior Jordan Winters (New Carlisle, Indiana / New Carlisle), and 97 from freshman Jenna Wallace (Byron Center, Michigan / Byron Center).

Hope returns to action on Friday-Saturday, Sept. 6-7, at The University of Olivet Kyle Campbell Tournament at The Medalist Golf Course in Marshall. Friday's tee time is 2 p.m.; Saturday's 8:30 a.m.
