Women's Golf Rolls to Early Lead vs. Albion in 36-Hole Event

The Hope College women's golf team seized early command of a season-opening, 36-hole event against Albion College on Friday.

The Flying Dutch carded a first-round score of 327 on their home course, Clearbrook Golf Course in Saugatuck, and grabbed a 38-stroke lead.

Hope heads on the road to play the final round on Saturday, Aug. 31, at 2 p.m. at Cascades Golf Course in Jackson.

Sophomore Allyson Zuidema (Northville, Michigan / Northville HS) fired a 6-over-par 78 for Friday's low round.

Two teammates finished within three strokes of Zuidema: sophomore Jaiden Winters (New Carlisle, Indiana / New Carlisle) and sophomore Kylie Gernaat (Kalamazoo, Michigan / Kalamazoo Christian).

Junior Caydee Constant (Grand Haven, Michigan / Grand Haven) rounded out the scoring for Hope's "A Group" with an 87. Junior Sara Muir (Ada, Michigan / Grand Rapids Christian) posted a 90.

Albion's top individual round was an 87 from Taylore Wilson.

The Flying Dutch's "B Group" featured an 85 from junior Hannah Finch (Dexter, Michigan / Dexter), an 86 from senior Sara Owens (Charlotte, Michigan / Charlotte), an 89 from freshman Jenna Wallace (Byron Center, Michigan / Byron Center), a 92 from sophomore Rachael Jones (Grove City, Ohio / Grove City) and a 99 from sophomore Jordan Winters (New Carlisle, Indiana / New Carlisle).
