The 29th-ranked Hope College women's cross country team competed at the John Nichols Invitational hosted by Indiana State University on Saturday.
Hope finished in 12th place in the 23-team open division in Terre Haute, Indiana,
Nine of the 11 teams finishing before the Flying Dutch are ranked nationally, with five of those teams coming in the Top Ten in this week's USTFCCCA National Rankings.
Colorado College, ranked No. 17 nationally, finished in first place; The University of Chicago, ranked second nationally, came in second place; and New York University, ranked first nationally, took third. Hope totaled 332 points.
Senior Maddy Struck (Hainesville, Michigan / Grayslake Central HS) crossed the line first for Hope with a 35th-place time of 22 minutes, 48 seconds.
Junior Lexi Deighan (Birmingham, Michigan / Seaholm) took the second spot for the Flying Dutch with an 86th-place time of 25:53.
Junior Molly Durow (Glenview, Illinois / Glenbrook South) clocked a time of 23:57.
Senior Madison Stern (Saline, Michigan / Saline) finished in 24:06.
Freshman Maddie VandeBunte (Jenison, Michigan / Jenison) ran 24:20.
Senior Audrey White (Norton Shores, Michigan / Mona Shores) finished with a time of 24:30.
Sophomore Paige King (Glenbard, Illinois / Glenbard West) crossed at 24:42.
Hope's next best runs came from:
- sophomore Becca Scott (Naperville, Illinois / Naperville Central) at 24:45;
- freshman Nidia Martinez (Fennville, Michigan / Fennville) at 24:58;
- sophomore Elise Bodary (New Boston, Michigan / Father Gabriel Richard) at 24:58.
The Flying Dutch run again on Saturday, Sept. 28, at 10:30 a.m. in Grand Rapids, Michigan, at the Calvin University Knight Invitational.
