Women's Golf Tees Off at Midwest Region Classic

Hope is tied for 13th at the 33-team event

The Hope College women's golf team shot a first-round total of 339 on Friday and is tied for 13th place at the 39-team Midwest Region Classic in Kansasville, Wisconsin.

The Flying Dutch and Illinois College share 13th place heading into the final round on Saturday, Sept. 21.

Hope is scheduled to tee off at 9:30 a.m. Central.

Sophomore Rachael Jones (Grove City, Ohio / Grove City HS) fired the Flying Dutch's low round for the day with an 8-over-par 80 at Brighton Dale Golf Links.

Jones is tied for 29th place individually, six strokes off the lead.

Sophomore Kylie Gernaat (Kalamazoo, Michigan / Kalamazoo Christian) carded an 83.

Senior Sarah Owens (Charlotte, Michigan / Charlotte) chipped in an 84.

The Flying Dutch received 86s from junior Caydee Constant (Grand Haven, Michigan / Grand Haven) and sophomore Allyson Zuidema (Northville, Michigan / Northville).

Sophomore Jaiden Winters (New Carlisle, Indiana / New Prairie) shot an 87.
