Men's Basketball Falls at Trine

The Hope College men's basketball team fell at third-ranked Trine University, 77-54, on Saturday.

The Flying Dutchmen (9-8 overall) remain in sole possession of third place in the MIAA standings with a 4-2 league record.

Hope concludes the first half of the MIAA schedule on Wednesday, Jan. 29, at 8 p.m. at fifth-place Albion College. The game is part of a women's and men's doubleheader between the Britons at Hope. The women's game tips off at 6 p.m.

Senior center Gabe Quillan (Ada, Michigan / Grand Rapids Catholic Central HS) topped the Flying Dutchmen with nine points and a game-high 11 rebounds.

Hope struggled from the floor, shooting 28.4% (19-67) overall and 12.3% from 3-point range (3-24).

Trine jumped to an 8-2 lead during the first 2 ½ minutes and never trailed.

Drew Moore's 17 points led the Thunder (16-1, 6-0 MIAA). Trine shot 50.9% from the field (29-57) to remain in a first-place tie in the MIAA standings with Calvin University.
