League Champion Men's Soccer Puts Eight on All-MIAA Teams

Up and down the pitch, the MIAA champion Hope College men's soccer team utilized a talented group to rise above the field.

Eight Flying Dutchmen earned spots on the 2025 All-MIAA Teams, including six first-team honorees and two second-team selections.

Defender Jack Lowman, forward Jackson Mindling, goalkeeper Daniel Morgan, defender Benjamin Smitley, forward Seth Walters and midfielder Josh Weigel received All-MIAA First Team honors.

Midfielder Matthew Davidson and defender Evan Morrison were named to the All-MIAA Second Team.

The group helped Hope post a 6-0-1 league record and capture the program's 16th MIAA championship — and first outright title since 2006.

Lowman (Novi, Michigan / Northville) excelled in his first collegiate season, anchoring a Hope defense that protected Morgan and recorded a league-best 0.43 goals-against average in MIAA play. The freshman also scored three goals, including a game-winner at Adrian College.

Mindling (Grand Rapids, Michigan / Grand Rapids Christian) repeated as a first-team selection after tying for second in the league with five goals. The sophomore totaled 12 goals overall, including four game-winners — two in conference play. His second-half hat trick against Trine on Oct. 29 clinched the league championship.

Morgan (Holland, Michigan / Holland Christian) earned his first All-MIAA honor after leading the conference in goals-against average (0.43) and shutouts (4) in seven league matches. The sophomore averaged 2.86 saves per game against MIAA opponents.

Smitley (Wyoming, Michigan / Grand Rapids Catholic Central) received his first All-MIAA recognition after contributing at both ends of the field. The sophomore recorded two assists — including one in a 1-1 draw with Calvin — and scored one goal.

Walters (St. Joseph, Michigan / St. Joseph) teamed with Mindling to spearhead the Hope attack, claiming his third All-MIAA honor and second straight first-team selection. The senior led the league with six goals and 36 shots in seven conference matches. He scored the game-winner in a 1-0 victory at Olivet on Oct. 11.

Weigel (Naperville, Illinois / Naperville Central) earned his first All-MIAA honor as a standout two-way midfielder. The junior recorded three assists in league play, all during the final three regular-season matches.

Davidson (Grand Ledge, Michigan / Grand Ledge) claimed his second All-MIAA recognition and first second-team selection. The senior contributed two goals and one assist in seven conference matches, including the game-winner in a 3-0 victory against Kalamazoo on Oct. 15.

Morrison (Canton, Michigan / Canton) earned his first All-MIAA honor after emerging as a key defensive presence. The junior totaled one goal and one assist in conference play, including the game-winning goal in a 2-1 victory at Albion on Oct. 18.
