11/6/2025 2:28:00 PM

The MIAA champion Hope College men's cross country team rose one spot to 16th in this week's United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association NCAA Division III poll.

This is the final regional poll before NCAA regional championships on Saturday, Nov. 15.

Hope will compete at 10 a.m. at the Great Lakes Regional at E.P. "Tom" Sawyer State Park in Louisville, Kentucky, with a goal of qualifying for the NCAA Division III National Championships in Spartanburg, South Carolina.

The Flying Dutchmen are coming off a dominant performance at the MIAA Championships, where they scored 22 points — 44 points ahead of the runner-up.

Led by MIAA Most Valuable Runner Logan Begeman (Portage, Michigan / Portage Central), Hope claimed its first league title since 1986 and ended Calvin's 38-year championship streak.

The Flying Dutchmen recorded six of the eight fastest times at the meet.

Six Hope runners earned All-MIAA First Team honors: Begeman, Carston Cole (Holland, Michigan / West Ottawa), senior Lucas Guidone (Chicago, Illinois / Taft), sophomore Elias Kretchmar (Granville, Ohio / Granville), freshman Aiden Moore (Battle Creek, Michigan / Lakeview), and sophomore Cooper Jacobsen (Grand Rapids, Michigan / Forest Hills Eastern).

Three more were named to the All-MIAA Second Team: senior Jonathan Harlow (Holland, Michigan / Home School), junior Nile Devers (Gobles, Michigan / Gobles), freshman Elijah Forbord (Howell, Michigan / Brighton), and junior Ian Petruska (Fort Collins, Colorado / Fort Collins).
