Four Claim All-Region Women's Track Honors from the USTFCCCA

The Hope College women's indoor track and field team has claimed United States Track and Field Cross Country Coaches Association All-Great Lakes Region honors in four events, including one relay.

A total of four Flying Dutch earned the distinction. The top-5 individuals in each event from each region on the year-end Descending Order Lists earned All-Region distinction, in addition to each member of the region's top-3 relay teams.

Sprinter Sara Schermerhorn (Traverse City, Michigan / Traverse City West HS) achieved the award in four events: 60-, 200- and 400-meter runs, and the 4x400 relay.

The junior was the first runner in MIAA history to win three individual sprint titles in the same conference meet.

Schermerhorn now has claimed all-region recognition in 12 indoor events throughout her career.

Junior Frances Cozzens (Lyman, New Hampshire / Saint Johnsbury Academy), junior Catherine Leahy (Elk Rapids, Michigan / Elk Rapids) and freshman Sofia Fisher (Lombard, Illinois / Montini Catholic) claimed the honor in the 4x400 relay.
