A supercharged Hope College women's lacrosse team overwhelmed another MIAA opponent on Tuesday, running away with a 21-4 victory over visiting Adrian College in the MIAA Tournament semifinals.
The top-seeded Flying Dutch scored 18 of the game's final 19 goals and cruised into the championship game on Friday, May 2, at 6 p.m. at Van Andel Soccer Stadium.
The victory also was the 100th in program history for Hope.
The Flying Dutch (12-5) will face second-seeded Trine University, a 10-8 semifinal winner at home vs. third-seeded Calvin University Tuesday afternoon.Â
Hope is pursuing a third consecutive MIAA Tournament title, attempting to join Calvin (2016-18) in accomplishing the feat. The MIAA Tournament champion receives the league's automatic berth to the NCAA Division III Championships.
The Flying Dutch's goal total matched the program-best for an MIAA Tournament game and was one off the MIAA Tournament record.
It was Hope's third consecutive game with 20-plus goals.
Entering the game, the Flying Dutchmen topped the MIAA with a plus-12.7 scoring margin.

Junior Caleigh Randall (Lansing, Michigan / DeWitt HS) scored a season-high and game-high five goals for the Orange and Blue.
Junior Julia Brown (Grand Rapids, Michigan / Forest Hills Central) contributed eight points with four goals and a game-high four assists.
Senior Juli Kirkpatrick (Granger, Indiana / Penn) added four goals.
Senior Kerrigan Brown (DeWitt, Michigan / DeWitt) chipped in six points with four assists and two goals.
Julia Brown factored heavily in Hope breaking away from the fourth-seeded Bulldogs (12-6), beginning with setting up with Kirkpatrick's go-ahead goal to break a 3-3 tie with 5 minutes, 38 seconds left in the first quarter.
By the end of the first quarter, Hope led 8-3 as Julia Brown scored twice and added one more assist.
Brown hit the 60-goal mark for the second consecutive season, reaching 61 for the season and 180 for her career.
Hope outshot Adrian by a 44-13 margin, including a 25-6 edge in shots on goal.
The Flying Dutch have won 29 consecutive matches against MIAA opponents, including five in postseason play.
