Baseball's Series Opener at Calvin Moved to LMCU Ballpark

The series opener will now be played on May 1 at the home of a Detroit Tigers' minor-league affilliate

The Rivalry on the baseball field is headed this spring to the home of the West Michigan Whitecaps, the Detroit Tigers' minor-league affiliate.

Hope College will face Calvin University in a nine-inning game on Thursday, May 1, at 7 p.m. at LMCU Ballpark in Comstock Park, north of Grand Rapids. It is the opener of the three-game, MIAA series between the two teams.

General admission is $5. Children 12 and under are free.

Hope and Calvin are scheduled to compete their series on Saturday, May 3, at 1 p.m. at Boeve Baseball Stadium. The doubleheader will be Senior Day for the Flying Dutchmen.

The two teams last faced each other at the home of the Whitecaps during the 2013 season.
