Women's Soccer Falls at Carleton

The Hope College women's soccer team dropped its first match of the season Friday, falling at Carthage College (Minn.), 3-0, on Friday afternoon.

The Flying Dutch's record is now 2-1 on the season.

Carleton, which received votes in the United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division III poll, remained unbeaten on the season with a 2-0-1 record.

The Knights jumped to a 2-0 halftime lead by scoring twice in a span of 3 ½ minutes midway through the second half. Kathryn Kresse netted the game-winner with her second of the season at the 28-minute, 51-second mark.

Carleton finished with a 14-10 edge in shots.

Junior forward Kayla Cannon (Holland, Mich. / Holland Christian) topped Hope with three shots, including two on goal.

Hope goalkeeper Clara Feenstra (Hudsonville, Mich. / Hudsonville) stopped five Carleton shots.

Avery Trapp recorded three saves for Carleton after entering the game in the 13th minute.

The Flying Dutch's next match is Saturday, Sept. 6, at noon Central at St. Olaf College (Minn.).
