Volleyball Downs Saint Mary’s on Senior Night

The Hope College volleyball team honored three special seniors on Friday night at DeVos Fieldhouse, then topped Saint Mary's College in three sets to remain undefeated in MIAA play.

The Flying Dutch won on One Big Weekend, 25-18, 25-13, 25-22 to raise their record to 15-6 overall and 4-0 in MIAA matches.

Before the game, Hope honored seniors Kamryn Burbridge, Kathryn Oates and Natalie Pannucci. They entered the night with a combined record of 98-19, three-time MIAA regular-season champions, two-time NCAA Division III regional champions, a national runner-up in 2023 and a national semifinalist in 2024.

"We know that the legacy of these seniors will live on for years to come — in both the history books and our hearts," head coach Becky Schmidt said.

On the court, the Flying Dutch racked up 45 kills to Saint Mary's 22.

Burbridge, a middle hitter from Grand Haven, Michigan (Grand Haven), collected a game-high 11 kills at a .389 clip.

Junior outside hitter Angie Butler (Novi, Michigan / Mercy) and sophomore outside hitter Kiera Morrison (Bartlett, Illinois / Wheaton Academy) each chipped in nine kills.

Freshman middle blocker Maddie Ostrander (Grand Rapids, Michigan / Catholic Central) contributed seven kills.

Sophomore setter Brooke Hehl (Rochester Hills, Michigan / Lutheran Northwest) recorded 36 assists and a team-best five blocks against Saint Mary's, which fell to 12-10 overall and 1-3 in MIAA games.

Hope's next game is Wednesday, Oct. 21, at 6:30 p.m. at Calvin University.
