Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Sweep MIAA Titles for the Second Time

The nationally ranked Hope College men's and women's cross country teams dashed to historic runs on Saturday, sweeping the MIAA Championships for the second time in program history.

The Flying Dutch accomplished the feat for the first time since 1986 at Marshall Country Club.

In the 6K women's race, Hope totaled a winning score of 34 points and finished 17 points ahead of runner-up Calvin University.

In the men's 8K, the Flying Dutch repeated as MIAA champion, recording a first-place total of 40 points and placing eight points ahead of second-place Calvin.

"That doesn't happen frequently; it's a testament to the hard work the kids have put in all season and the way they raced today," head coach Mark Northuis said. "We try to build one team where it's two races, but it doesn't make a big difference in how we approach them. It's been an asset for us."

The Hope men earned the 16th MIAA title in team history. The Hope women claimed their 15th league championship and their first since sharing the crown in 2023.

Check back later for more updates on the meet.
