Women’s Soccer Blanks Albion for Three-Game Winning Streak

Forward Halle Barnard and midfielder Jessica Reyes each scored to propel the Hope College women's soccer team to a 2-0 victory at Albion College on Tuesday.

Goalkeeper Clara Feenstra also played a key role, helping the Flying Dutch record their second consecutive shutout of an MIAA opponent.

Hope extended its winning streak to three games, improving to 7-3-1 overall and 3-0 in MIAA play.

Barnard (Rockford, Michigan / Rockford) opened the scoring in the 25th minute, tracking down a long cross from freshman Rowan Klein (Clarkston, Michigan / Oakland Christian) at the top of the goal area before kicking it past Albion keeper Libby Wiskiewski from the top of the goal area.

It was the senior's fifth goal of the season, tying freshman Avery Plummer (Traverse City, Michigan / Traverse City West) for the team lead.

Reyes (Rochester Hills, Michigan / Oakland Christian) iced the victory in the 81st minute with her first goal of the season. The freshman capitalized after Albion was called for a handball in the box following a Hope free kick.

Feenstra (Hudsonville, Michigan / Hudsonville) made three saves for her fourth shutout of the season. All three saves came during the second half against the Britons (6-4-0, 1-1-0 MIAA).
