The Hope College women's track and field team delivered three first-place finishes across sprint, relay and field events on Friday at the Mrs. G Invitational hosted by Trine University.
Freshman Jaidyn Klimp (Galesburg, Michigan / Galesburg Augusta) posted a victory for Hope in the 400 meters, crossing the finish line first in 1:00.09.
Senior Sara Schermerhorn (Traverse City, Michigan / Traverse City West) won the 200 meters, winning the event in 25.15 seconds. In the sprints, Schermerhorn also added a runner-up finish in the 60 meters, clocking a time of 7.71 seconds.
Hope also captured a first-place finish in the 4×400 relay as the quartet of Frances Cozzens (Lyman, New Hampshire / Saint Johnsbury Academy), Klimp, Savana Monville (Auburn, Michigan / Bay City Western), and Schermerhorn combined for a winning time of 3:59.77.
Sophomore Sofia Fisher (Lombard, Illinois / Montini Catholic) added a fourth-place finish in the 60 meters with a time of 7.86. Fisher also added a fourth-place finish performance in the 200 meters in 26.36 seconds,Â
Senior Frances Cozzens recorded a fourth-place finish in the 400 meters, finishing in 1:01.74.
In distance events, sophomore Maddie VandeBunte (Jenison, Michigan / Jenison) placed fifth in the 3,000 meters with a time of 10:48.86.
In the field events, senior Kamryn Bice (Monroe, Michigan / Monroe) earned a fifth-place finish in the shot put with a top mark of 11.37 meters (37 feet 3.75 inches).
Hope's 4×400 relay of Eliana Kotsonis (Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin / Hamilton), Adell Weseloh (Elmhurst, Illinois / York Community), Lauren Nemens (Sterling Heights, Michigan / Adlai E. Stevenson), and Clare Sherman (Ada, Michigan / Forest Hills Central) clocked a fifth-place finish of 4:18.26.
Hope's next meet will be the Big Meet on Friday, Feb. 13, at 8:30 a.m. at Grand Valley State University.
